The following standard mode of dress will be required for all students at Academy at Central for the 2008-2009 school year.


SMOD (SHIRTS ONLY) Dress Code Colors

The following colors apply to shirts, turtlenecks, oxford shirts, and sweatshirts only:

~ WHITE
~NAVY BLUE
~ GRAY
~ BLACK
~ TAN

SMOD (PANTS ONLY) Dress Code Colors

The following colors apply to pants, shorts, capri pants, skorts, and skirts only :

~ BLACK
~ NAVY BLUE
~ KHAKI



Shirts
Must be tucked in at all ti me s with the exception of sweaters and sweatshirts; small designer emblems acceptable as well as a High Point Central High School (HPC) logo; t-shirts cannot be worn as the primary shirt, can only be worn as undergar me nt (white t-shirts only), and writing or graphics must not show through the top gar me nt.

Polo/Golf Style Shirt w/Collar
* Short or long sleeved
* Must have 2 to 4 buttons
* Must be within dress code colors (see above);NO DENIM

Turtleneck/Mock Turtleneck Shirt
* Plain; no buttons
* Must be within dress code colors (see above)

Front-buttoned Solid Oxford Dress Shirt
* No denim or chambray
* Sleeves must have the wrist buttoned
* Short or long sleeved with a collar
* Must be within dress code colors (see above);NO DENIM



Sweater/Sweatshirt
* Can not hang past straddle of pants (not baggy)
* Must be worn over an approved dress code shirt
* May have a round or v-neck, or it may be a button-front cardigan style
* Official High Point Central sweatshirt may be worn
* Must be within dress code colors (see above)

Pants and Shorts
Must be worn at the waist at all ti me s; no graphics but designer emblems OK.

Pants - Must fit to size (not baggy, sagging, or skin tight)

* Cannot drag on floor
* Cargo pants are not allowed.
* Limited to no more than two front and two rear pockets
* Cannot be tucked into socks
* Form fitting spandex material, nylon, denim, pajama or sweat pants are not allowed.
* Capri pants are allowed but cannot be hip huggers, cannot be skin tight and the manufactured slit at the bottom of the Capri pant cannot be above the knee.
* Must be within the dress code colors (see above);NO DENIM


Shorts or Skorts - Walking style
* Inseam should fall no more than 3 inches above the knee (when standing)
* If worn with socks, the socks must be within the dress code colors
* Limited to no more than two front and two rear pockets
* Form fitting spandex material, nylon, denim, pajama or sweat pants are not allowed.
* Must be within the dress code colors (see above);NO DENIM Skirts and Dresses
* Inseam should fall no more than 3 inches above the knee (when standing)
* If worn with socks, the socks must be within the dress code colors
* Limited to no more than two front and two rear pockets
* Form fitting spandex material, nylon, denim, and sweat pants are not allowed
* Splits or slits should be no more than six inches above the inseam
* Splits or slits should ONLY be in the back of the skirt
* Must be within the dress code colors (see above);NO DENIM

Belts
* Students must wear a belt if garment/clothing was manufactured with belt loops.
* Belts or waist bands must be visible with shirts tucked in except when approved sweaters or sweatshirts are worn.
* Color-dark belts or belts that match the color of the pants, skirts, skorts, capri, shorts
* Graphics or labels are unacceptable on all belts and belt buckles
* Name buckles or large face buckles are not allowed
* Belts must be an appropriate length and not hang below the straddle
* No accessories should be worn on the belt

Shoes/Socks
* No bedroom slippers
* Socks may be worn, but must be within the dress code colors (see above)

Miscellaneous
* Hats, caps, headbands, "do-rags", scarves, bandannas, and sunglasses are not to be worn or displayed inside the school facilities.
* Ties (optional); must be within in dress code colors
School Pride Apparel may be worn as a shirt on designated days with SMOD bottoms.
* Students who fail to wear the approved SMOD will be sent to the office/home until a parent/guardian brings proper SMOD clothing. Repeat offenders will be handled at the discretion of the Academy administration.
* SMOD information, the dress code policy and vendor list will be provided for parents before the new school year begins, when a student enrolls, and when revisions are made to the dress code.
* Any item that is worn to school must not undermine the integrity of the dress code, serve as a disruption to the educational process, or present a health hazard to an individual or their peers.

Open House: February 23, 5:00pm-6:30pm

Academy at Central will test students in February for the first time in Word and Excel. Students who pass will receive the Microsoft Certified Application Specialist certification.
