The Academy at Central opened in 2006 as an early college options for students in the High Point Central attendance zone. The Academy has grown and expanded greatly from its start. We now offer programs in Health Sciences and Medical IT with a focus on getting students certified as a nursing assistant, and/or in Microsoft certifications for IT. All students earn at least one year of free college at GTCC with the opportunity to earn a second year with good grades. Our classes are small and our teachers are dedicated. The Academy is a very unique setting within Guilford County Schools. We are one of only 25 Microsoft IT Academies at high schools in the United States, one of only two schools within Guilford County to teach Windows 7 Networking. Our staff is listed below. The Academy over the next few weeks will roll out its 1:1 laptop program. All students will have access to netbooks in every class. We are excited at this opportunity!
